Thailand e-Visa Step by Step: Apply online from Pakistan, over a photo of a Thai beach

Quick answer

Pakistanis apply for a Thailand tourist visa online at thaievisa.go.th, the official Thai e-Visa system. You upload your passport, a recent photo, proof you are in Pakistan, travel and hotel bookings and at least 20,000 baht of financial evidence, then pay the fee in cash at the Royal Thai Embassy. Processing takes about 14 working days. Before flying, also complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card.

Thailand is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Pakistani families, and the visa is now fully online. If you want to apply online for a Thailand e-Visa from Pakistan, the only official route is the Thai government's own website, thaievisa.go.th. There is no paper application and no passport submission.

This guide is for first-time applicants, families and anyone helping parents apply. It walks through the process as of October 2026: who applies where, exactly which documents the system asks for, how the fee is paid, how long it takes, and the arrival card you also need before you fly.

For the wider picture, including the type of trip that suits a tourist visa, see our Thailand visit visa from Pakistan page.

Can Pakistanis apply for a Thailand e-Visa online?

Yes. The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad announced that its e-Visa system has been in effect since 1 January 2025. Applicants apply online without visiting the embassy in person.

Three rules from the embassy matter most:

  • Where your application goes. It is submitted to the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Karachi, depending on where you are currently located. The e-Visa system lists both missions for applicants living in Pakistan.
  • You must be in Pakistan. Applicants "must be physically present in Pakistan for the entire e-Visa application process", and must upload proof of their current location. Applications without valid proof are rejected.
  • You can apply yourself. The embassy stresses that anyone can apply on their own, and warns people not to pay anyone who claims special connections.

Which Thai visa do you need?

For a holiday, sightseeing or visiting friends, choose the Tourist Visa and the purpose "Tourism / Leisure activities". The e-Visa system also offers transit, non-immigrant, and diplomatic and official visas for other purposes.

According to Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs tourist visa fact sheet:

  • you can stay up to 60 days from arrival
  • a single-entry visa is valid for 3 months, and a multiple-entry visa for 6 months
  • you may apply to stay longer at an Immigration Bureau office in Thailand, but this is at the immigration officer's discretion
  • employment in Thailand is prohibited

The e-Visa system notes that if you ask for a multiple-entry visa and the officer grants a single entry instead, the difference in fee is not refunded. Ask for multiple entry only if you genuinely plan several trips.

What documents do you upload?

For a tourism application handled by the Islamabad embassy, the e-Visa system's own checklist asks for:

  1. Biodata page of your passport. The MFA fact sheet asks for a passport valid for at least 6 months.
  2. A photograph taken within the last six months. The embassy's instructions specify JPG or JPEG format, maximum 3 MB.
  3. A document showing your current location. The system gives examples such as a valid visa or receipts for airline tickets or accommodation. The embassy's own notice suggests a rental agreement, utility bills or Pakistan immigration stamps. Upload something that clearly links you to your address in Pakistan right now.
  4. Travel booking confirmation, your return flight.
  5. Proof of accommodation in Thailand, such as hotel bookings, or an invitation letter if you are staying with family or friends there.
  6. Financial evidence of no less than 20,000 baht, for example bank statements for the last three months or a sponsorship letter. The MFA fact sheet sets 40,000 baht for a family.

Where sources differ, follow the stricter one. The e-Visa checklist asks for a "travel booking confirmation", while the MFA fact sheet asks for a confirmed air ticket paid in full. A confirmed, paid return ticket satisfies both.

Practical tips on documents

  • Use the same name spelling as your passport on every booking.
  • Make sure your hotel dates and flight dates match exactly.
  • If a relative pays, upload their statement with a short signed letter and proof of your relationship, such as your NADRA Family Registration Certificate.
  • For more on preparing statements, read our guide to the bank statement for a visa from Pakistan.

How to apply: step by step

  1. Go to thaievisa.go.th and check that the address is exactly this. Ignore look-alike sites.
  2. Create an account. A verification link is sent to your email. One account can hold up to 10 applications, so a parent can apply for the whole family.
  3. Choose the visa category (Tourist Visa) and your purpose of visit.
  4. Fill in the application form carefully. Your passport details must match the biodata page.
  5. Upload your documents from the list above.
  6. Submit and pay the fee (see below). Processing starts only after payment.
  7. Track your status by logging in to your account.
  8. Receive your e-Visa by email, then print it.

The printout matters. The embassy says to present the printed e-Visa at flight check-in and to Thai immigration on arrival, and that mobile or electronic copies will not be accepted.

Thailand e-Visa at a glance (as of October 2026)

Handled by Royal Thai Embassy, Islamabad, or Consulate-General, Karachi, by current location
Must you be in Pakistan? Yes, for the whole process, with proof of location
Funds At least 20,000 baht per person (40,000 baht per family, MFA)
Fee 1,000 baht per entry in local currency; paid in cash at the Islamabad embassy
Processing About 14 working days after the fee is received
Stay Up to 60 days per entry
Proof at the airport Printed e-Visa (no phone copies) plus TDAC confirmation

How much is the fee and how do you pay it?

Thailand's MFA fact sheet sets the tourist visa processing fee at 1,000 baht per entry, charged in the local currency. Embassies convert this into their local currency, so the exact amount in Pakistani rupees is shown in the e-Visa system when you pay. We could not confirm a current rupee figure on an official Thai government page as of October 2026, so we have not printed one. Check the amount in your account before paying.

For applications handled by the Islamabad embassy, payment is made offline, in cash, at the embassy's Visa Gate. Take your application confirmation with you. The embassy lists payment hours of 09.30 to 13.00 and 14.00 to 15.30 on working days, with shorter hours during Ramadan. If your application is handled by the Karachi Consulate-General, check that mission's website for its payment options.

Visa fees are non-refundable under any circumstances, including if the application is refused or withdrawn.

How long does a Thailand e-Visa take from Pakistan?

The embassy gives an estimated processing time of about 14 working days after the fee has been received and acknowledged. That is roughly three calendar weeks, more if public holidays fall in between.

Practical timing, from the files we handle:

  • Apply at least a month before travel, longer around Eid and school holidays.
  • Pay the fee promptly after submitting, because the clock only starts then.
  • Do not buy non-refundable tours until the e-Visa is approved.

Do Pakistanis need the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)?

Yes. Since 1 May 2025, Thailand has replaced the paper TM.6 arrival form with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Thai embassy notices say all non-Thai nationals entering by air, land or sea must complete it online within the three days before arrival. The main exceptions are travellers transiting without passing through immigration control and people entering with a border pass.

Key points:

  • Submit it only on the official site, tdac.immigration.go.th, which describes itself as having no fees.
  • It is free. Anyone charging you for the TDAC is not the Thai government.
  • It is not a visa. You still need your approved e-Visa.
  • Keep the confirmation you receive and show it with your passport on arrival.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Fake or edited bookings. The embassy warns that fraudulent documents mean immediate rejection and possible blacklisting of the applicant or their agent.
  2. Applying while abroad. You must be in Pakistan throughout, with proof of location.
  3. An old photo. It must be taken within the last six months.
  4. Showing less than the required funds, or a statement that does not clearly belong to you or your sponsor.
  5. Relying on a phone copy of the e-Visa at the airport.
  6. Forgetting the TDAC until the airport, or submitting it more than three days early.
  7. Paying "fixers". The embassy says to report anyone who asks for extra money or offers illegal visa services.

Frequently asked questions

Can Pakistanis get a Thailand visa on arrival?

Plan on getting a visa before you fly. Pakistani passport holders apply through the Thai e-Visa system, which the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad has used for applications from Pakistan since 1 January 2025. Airlines check your printed e-Visa at check-in, so travelling without one risks being refused boarding.

Do I still need to visit the embassy for a Thailand e-Visa?

Not to submit documents, which are all uploaded online. For applications handled by the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad, the fee is paid in cash at the embassy's Visa Gate, with your application confirmation. Applicants under the Karachi Consulate-General should check its own payment arrangements.

Can I apply for my whole family from one account?

Yes. The embassy says one e-Visa account can be used for yourself and family members, up to 10 applications at a time. Each person still needs their own application, photo and documents, and each visa is issued separately.

Is the TDAC the same as a visa?

No. The Thailand Digital Arrival Card replaces the old paper arrival form and is free. It does not give you permission to enter. Pakistanis need both an approved e-Visa and a completed TDAC, which is submitted within the three days before arrival.

What happens if my Thailand e-Visa is refused?

The fee is not refunded. You can apply again with stronger documents, but first look at what was weak: unclear location proof, low or unexplained funds, or bookings that do not match your dates are common problems in the files we review. Never upload edited or fake bookings; the embassy says this can lead to blacklisting.
